Mentor

The Gordon Parks Elementary Mentor Program provides students with opportunities to create lasting, consistent, safe relationships with community leaders. Our Mentors do the following:

  • meet with their Gordon Parks student once a week for an hour

  • focus their time together on relationship-building and academic support

  • provide unique experiences for their mentee

Children need positive relationships to increase resilience. Schools are children’s communities. You can help create connections and a learning opportunity.

Volunteer

The Friends of Gordon Parks are a group of like-minded volunteers committed to supporting the needs of the Gordon Parks community by:

  • assisting in the library

  • supporting family events

  • donating time, talent and resources

  • championing individual classrooms

  • and so much more!

Partner

Building community partnerships is fundamental in our mission. We want to empower our students, their families, and the public, and we recognize that we cannot do this alone. For our students to be successful, we must continue to strengthen the foundation upon which our mission rests – and that foundation is forged through community partnerships.

Our partnerships include families, neighbors, local organizations, corporations, foundations, churches, and other non-profit organizations serving children. We are actively cultivating relationships with organizations and individuals who support our mission.

If you would like to discuss the opportunities available for community partnerships, please email Sam Cook at scook@gpes.org.
