Gordon Parks Elementary School (GPES) is excited to announce a leadership transition effective July 1, 2017. Dr. Steve Lumetta will assume the Chief Executive Officer role on July 1, 2017.
With fifteen years of experience in education, Dr. Lumetta is bringing passion and experience together at Gordon Parks. He has been a leader in the Liberty School District for 15 years. He has earned his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Education at University of Kansas, a Master of Science in School Leadership at Baker University, and his Ph.D. in School Leadership at Saint Louis University.
“This place is amazing and I’m excited to work alongside the students and staff to continue the growth and excellence that has already been established,” commented Dr. Lumetta.
"We are privileged to have such an innovative educator join us at Gordon Parks and help us get to the next level. Dr. Lumetta comes with a great deal of enthusiasm for this work. Myself, along with the Board of Directors feel certain he will have a significant positive impact on our school culture," commented Dr. Bernard Franklin, President of the Board of Directors.
Dr. Lumetta will bring a passion for inspiring teachers and administrators to Gordon Parks. “Gordon Parks wasn’t ranked 4th in KCMO charter schools for no reason. While the kids work extremely hard, I’m even more excited to work with such incredible teachers and staff. The Gordon Parks “way” is a model that works – and as a team, we can do even more.”
