“My name is Megan Mills and I am from Nixa, Missouri. I went to the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and was a cross country and track athlete while I was there. I got my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education while also becoming certified in Early Childhood Education. I am currently in graduate school at UMKC working on my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have previously taught preschool and kindergarten in a split classroom and this year will be my second year teaching. I was previously at Academy for Integrated Arts, learning there as a student teacher, a teacher's assistant while in graduate school, and then spent my first year as a classroom teacher there.
What I am most looking forward to this upcoming school year at Gordon Parks Elementary is getting to know and build relationships with new kids and families. I am excited to be a part of such a positive school community that ensures that all students are meeting their highest potential. When I toured Gordon Parks, I fell in love with the climate of the staff and students. I could feel a very calm and collaborative atmosphere from being there for only a few hours.
