"Martha Speaks" visits Gordon Parks!

Gordon Parks is pleased to announce a partnership with KCPT and its “Martha Speaks” Reading Buddies program. Martha, of the popular children's book by Susan Meddaugh and “Martha Speaks” KCPT program, made a special appearance on Friday, January 27th, at Gordon Parks to kick-off the school-wide initiative. Gordon Parks Elementary will pair kindergarten students with fourth grade buddies to learn new vocabulary, read, and write together. Interim Principal Dr. Lynne Beachner is excited about the opportunity for students to learn from each other. “Fourth grade students will prepare activities and read to the kindergarteners,” said Dr. Beachner. "I think this will be a fun and interactive program for all the students involved.”
