Race to Achieve at the 2010 Waddell & Reed Kansas City MarathonOn October 16th Gordon Parks staff and friends are participating in the Kansas City Marathon to raise awareness about the school and help reach the fundraising goal for the year. We will be on a Race to Achieve, raising funds to support our school's small class sizes, integrated arts program, and intensive support services.

Vintage Motorcycle ShowHeart of America Motorcycle Enthusiasts Club
Vintage Motorcycle Show
A big THANK YOU to the Heart of America Motorcycle Enthusiasts Club for once again making Gordon Parks Elementary School the beneficiary of this year's Vintage Motorcycle Show held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the downtown airport's Airline History Museum. An estimated 2,000 visitors attended the show where exhibitors displayed beautiful vintage motorcycles and scooters! Also on display and available for tour were several vintage airplanes owned by the museum.

Spring Musical - How Does Your Garden Grow?Young Students Shine in our Spring Musical
How Does Your Garden Grow?
Our Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Graders delighted an audience of parents, volunteers, donors and staff with their performance of the spring musical "How Does Your Garden Grow?" Directed by music teacher Jennifer Rostohar, our youngest students sang and narrated the story of the garden from seeds and flowers to weeds and vegetables with songs such as "We Are the Loveliest Flowers," "We're Weeds" and "The Garden Hoedown!" Not to be missed were the terrific costumes and stage decor conceived and coordinated by art teacher Barb Kluepfel and hand crafted by our students. Photos below:
