Gordon Parks Elementary School is seeking a Principal to embrace its mission and provide leadership for a K - 5 charter school which educates children from the urban core.

The Principal reports to the Executive Director who, in turn, reports to the Board of Directors. Principal duties include oversight of curriculum, instruction, and professional development and management and evaluation of teaching staff, and understanding the continuous improvement process.

Gordon Parks teaching staff includes 13 classroom teachers, art, music and physical education instructors, two full-time and one half-time special education teachers, full-time counselor/therapist, speech and language pathologist, behavior intervention specialist, occupational therapist, librarian/technologist, and math, science, and communication arts teachers.

Minimum qualifications include undergraduate degree in education, master's degree in education administration, and urban teaching experience. At least three years of principal experience is preferred.

Candidates should be innovative, familiar wtih best practices such as Balanced Literacy, BIST, and the latest classroom technology, and have an interest in and affinity for the arts.
